In the past, people would use phone books to find an address. Unfortunately, you can't exactly use "ctrl-f" to find information in a telephone book. Search Engines
The first, and easiest step to find an address would be to punch in the number of the address you are trying to find into your preferred search engine. For example, say you were trying to find the location of your local Pizza 73. Simple type in your local area code, plus the phone number 273-7373 into Google or your search engine of choice. This should turn up a business listing complete with address and perhaps even a post on Google Maps. By clicking on the Google Map link, you'll be able to find directions to the address you are trying to find.
Canada 411
Fortunately, the yellow pages have progressed from their paper days and can now be found in a searchable way online. On Canada 411, you can use a search tool called the reverse number lookup. This lookup allows you to input a phone number, and it will give you the name and address of any person or business listed at that number. There is also a reverse address lookup, if you have an address but need to find a phone number. Using the reverse address lookup you can input an address or postal code to find a phone number. Unfortunately, this lookup is limited to those who have chosen to list their number in the phonebook. This should not cause you any difficulty if you are looking for a business, but if you're trying to find a person they may be using a cell-phone or have their address unlisted. This service has equivalents in other countries, so if you are trying to find an address but don't live in Canada don't despair. Just go to the website of your local yellow pages directory.
