Shopping for LDS formal gowns can be a very trying experience. Whether the occasion is prom, a semi-formal, or a wedding, Latter-day Saint women who value modesty will more than likely have a difficult time finding the right dress.

Challenges to Mormon Modesty

LDS women usually have to conscientiously work to find modest swimwear, outerwear, and casual clothes. But nowhere are modest choices more sparse than in the formalwear department of clothing retailers. Formal dresses are almost all sleeveless, backless, strapless, or too tight.

Latter-day Saints who live in areas with a high concentration of Mormons such as Utah or Idaho may have access to more modest choices, but many Latter-day Saints just don't have many acceptable options open to them.
